I wake up in the morning groggily stretch and discover a sunbeam casting a warm golden path across my bedroom floor. I pull myself out of bed, open the window to let in a little fresh morning air and as I look outside I see a world alive in celebration of Springtime. As a butterfly passes by my window I know what day it is. It is the day my new butterfly winged shoes will come out of the box. How will it feel to wear these crazy shoes? Maybe a little strange, maybe a little free.

Sometimes the people you remember the most are the people who are the most unusual. I remember visiting a family on this farm. Everyone was sitting outside eating watermelon. They cut in slices, salted it, poured a generous amount of vinegar over it and ate it. Seeds and all. To this day I never spit out watermelon seeds. They are quite tasty.

Winter storms are a time of contemplation for me. Everything closes up and there is nothing to do but cozy up and stare out at all the blowing and drifting. Sipping hot chocolate I dream of my backyard in summer. How it will feel to go out to gather flowers of vibrant colors to display on my kitchen table. It is the vibrant colors I miss the most in the winter. Not just in nature but in fashion as well.
